🏃 What is the White NIE (EX-15)?
The White NIE is for non-residents who need a Spanish tax identification number for a one-time purpose: buying property, opening a bank account, signing a work contract, receiving an inheritance, etc. It does not give you the right to live in Spain.
How to fill in the EX-15 form
1
Download the official form
Download form EX-15 from inclusion.gob.es ↗. Fill it digitally before printing — handwritten forms are often rejected.
2
Section 1 — Personal details
Enter your full name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, and passport number exactly as they appear on your passport. Any difference will cause a rejection.
3
Section 2 — Reason for application (Motivo)
This is the most important field. Write a clear, specific reason: "Purchase of real estate property", "Opening a Spanish bank account", "Work contract with Spanish employer", "Inheritance proceedings", etc.
4
Section 3 — Address in Spain
Enter a valid Spanish address where you can be contacted. This can be a hotel, an Airbnb, or a friend's address. A foreign address is not accepted.
5
Print twice — do not sign yet
Print the completed form in two copies. Do not sign it at home — you must sign in front of the officer at the appointment.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Name or passport number that doesn't match your passport exactly
- Vague reason for application ("I need a NIE number" is not accepted)
- Foreign address in the Spanish address field
- Signing the form before the appointment
- Printing only one copy instead of two
- Using an old version of the form (always download fresh)

⚠️ Important: you need a real reason
Spanish authorities require a genuine, documented reason to issue a White NIE. "I might need it in the future" is not accepted. Bring proof: a signed contract, a purchase reservation, a bank letter, or an inheritance document.
