White NIE — EX-15
For non-residents · Fee €9.84
  • Form EX-15 — filled digitally, printed twice, unsigned
  • Valid passport — original + photocopy of photo page
  • Proof of appointment (cita previa confirmation PDF)
  • Tasa 790-012 — €9.84, paid at a Spanish bank counter (stamped receipt)
  • Proof of motive — one of: property purchase contract, bank account invitation letter, work contract, inheritance document, etc.
⚠️ The motive is mandatory You must justify why you need a NIE. "I might need it later" is not accepted. Bring a signed document proving your reason.

For EU residents · Fee €12.00
  • Form EX-18 — filled digitally, printed twice
  • Valid EU passport or national identity card — original + photocopy
  • Proof of appointment (cita previa confirmation PDF)
  • Tasa 790-012 — €12.00, paid at a Spanish bank counter
  • Proof of situation — one of: work contract, proof of enrolment, proof of sufficient funds + health insurance (for self-sufficient applicants)

Non-EU nationals · Fee €16.08

🎓 Student profile

  • Form EX-17 — filled digitally, printed twice
  • Valid passport — original + full copy of ALL pages
  • Proof of appointment
  • Tasa 790-012 — €16.08 (stamped bank receipt)
  • El Padrón — issued within the last 3 months
  • 1 recent photo — ID format, 32×26mm, white background
  • Resolución favorable — official letter granting your residence
  • Private health insurance — Sin Copagos + Sin Carencias, min. €30,000 coverage
  • Proof of enrolment at a Spanish educational institution
  • Proof of sufficient funds (bank statements)

💼 Worker profile

  • Form EX-17 — filled digitally, printed twice
  • Valid passport — original + full copy of ALL pages
  • Proof of appointment
  • Tasa 790-012 — €16.08
  • El Padrón — issued within 3 months
  • 1 recent photo — 32×26mm, white background
  • Resolución favorable
  • Work contract signed by employer
  • NIE number (already assigned at consulate stage)

👨‍👩‍👧 Family reunification

  • Form EX-17 — filled digitally, printed twice
  • Valid passport — original + full copy of ALL pages
  • Proof of appointment
  • Tasa 790-012 — €16.08
  • El Padrón — issued within 3 months
  • 1 recent photo — 32×26mm, white background
  • Resolución favorable
  • Family link proof (marriage certificate, birth certificate) — translated and apostilled
  • Proof of sponsor's legal status in Spain

TIE Card — Renewal (EX-17)
Non-EU nationals · Fee €19.30
  • Form EX-17 — filled digitally, printed twice

  • Proof of appointment
  • Tasa 790-012 — €19.30 (stamped bank receipt)
  • El Padrón — issued within 3 months
  • 1 recent photo — 32×26mm, white background
  • Current TIE card — original to be surrendered
  • Proof of continued status (work contract, enrolment, etc.)
💻 Online renewal available since 2025 TIE renewals can now be initiated online via Cl@ve / Mercurio on sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es. You must still attend in person for fingerprints (toma de huellas).
⚠️ Apply on time For TIE renewal: apply between 60 days before and 90 days after your card expires. Beyond 90 days late, you face a fine up to €500.
